Bali’s Hidden Shortcut: Beat Google Maps to Bingin
If you’ve spent any time in Bali, you know about its secret paths. These are not on Google Maps. Locals know them; travelers often miss them. One key shortcut, a hidden route from Balangan to Bingin, saves you 14 minutes of travel time.
Google Maps still shows longer routes, sending many tourists on detours. But this amazing shortcut lets you skip traffic and reach Bingin Beach faster. Imagine 14 extra minutes to relax, swim, or simply enjoy your Bali vacation. It’s a daily win for those in the know.
This isn’t a new, unpaved track. The local government recently paved this road, making it smooth and easy to use. Despite this upgrade, Google Maps hasn’t updated. Its algorithms seem stuck, always suggesting the longer way around.
But locals aren’t waiting for Google. We’re already using this paved shortcut daily on our scooters. It’s a quicker way to get around and a small secret we share. This path is more than just a road; it’s a part of the local Bali experience.
Important Note: Scooter Access Only
This shortcut is currently scooter-only. Cars are blocked, which keeps the path clear and fast. If you’re on a scooter, this route is perfect for you. It ensures your quick trip isn’t slowed down by traffic. Forget endless buffering maps and discover Bali’s true flow. You’ll quickly see why this is one of Bali’s best-kept travel secrets!
🛵 How to find it:
Drive past Balangan Hotel (used to be called Ulani Dreamland).
Once you pass it, 2 minutes later, you’ll spot a right turn where many scooters are turning, into a little gap between a long red gate which stops car from getting in.

Locals don’t just use it; they own it. They glide along this secret pathway with the quiet confidence of those who possess forbidden knowledge. Meanwhile, the unsuspecting travelers, tethered to their digital maps, sail past, utterly oblivious to the miraculous shortcut they’re missing.
But not you. Oh no, not anymore. Consider yourself officially, gloriously, and irrevocably in the loop. 😉 Welcome to the inner circle
